For as long as people have had mirrors, wrinkles and fine lines have been an unwanted effect of aging. For hundreds of years, home remedies were used to combat the signs of aging until Botox came on the scene. Over the past couple of decades, women all over the world have begun accessing a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that can eliminate visible lines and prevent future ones from developing – all from the comfort of a doctor’s office.
Here at Bose Plastic Surgery, we see both men and women who desire a more youthful appearance. With Botox, we can address their concerns and smooth out facial features without the need for a scalpel or extensive recovery period.
What Is Tampa Botox?
Botox is a cosmetic pharmaceutical substance known to the medical and scientific community as Botulinum toxin type A. This substance is derived from bacteria and then purified before being injected into the muscles along the face. This causes the muscles to weaken and relax, diminishing unwanted wrinkles. Dr. Bose uses Botox to help address many signs of aging on the face, including:
- Frown lines
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s feet
- And more
Since Botox prevents the muscle from contracting, it can also be used as a preventative measure. In younger patients who are just beginning to notice the signs of aging, Botox can prevent fine lines from turning into deep wrinkles in the future.
What To Expect During A Botox Injection
If you decide to undergo a Botox injection, the entire process will take place in our office – usually in just a few minutes. By choosing Dr. Bose, you are trusting an experienced plastic surgeon who understands the position and relationship of each of the 43 muscles within the face. Dr. Bose will carefully select the exact spots in which to inject Botox so as to optimize your result.
We use a thin needle and inject Botox in multiple strategic areas. Only the muscles responsible for producing wrinkles will be weakened – the remainder will retain their strength. This helps ensure you will continue to make normal facial expressions and not assume a ‘frozen’ appearance that is common when Botox is administered incorrectly.
Recovery
Unlike most cosmetic procedures, there is absolutely no recovery or down time required for patients who undergo Tampa Botox injections. In fact, you can get Botox on your lunch hour and return to work immediately afterward. Keep in mind, however, that you may need to follow certain instructions for care. This may include using care around the treatment area immediately after the injection. Avoid massaging the area for 24 hours. Do not lie down flat for 4 hours after the procedure. You should begin to see the results of Botox within just a few days of treatment.
Are You A Candidate For Botox?
Only an in-person consultation with Dr. Bose can help you determine if Botox is right for you. However, you might be a good candidate for this procedure if you:
- Wish to combat the signs of aging without undergoing surgery
- Are unhappy with the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your face
- Wish to prevent the formation of new age lines
Keep in mind that Botox is not a permanent solution. In most patients, the results last a few months before additional treatments are needed. Dr. Bose will be happy to discuss your options for repeat treatments and maintenance.
