Are you embarrassed by deep forehead furrows or a drooping brow? Do others often mistake you for appearing angry, sleepy, or worried? These are some of the most common complaints of people who visit our Tampa office to discuss the possibility of a brow or forehead lift.
Dr. Bose and the team here at Bose Plastic Surgery believe that you should be able to look as young as you feel. Gravity, years of exposure to the elements, and a natural loss of skin elasticity can all lead to a sagging brow – even in a person as young as their 30s, 40s, or 50s. A brow lift can offer a natural-looking solution with benefits that include:
- Eyes that appear more open and alert
- Fewer frown lines and wrinkles
- Greater self-confidence in your appearance
- A appearance perceived as more approachable by others
- A more taut brow line that takes years off of your face
What Is A Brow Lift?
Here at Bose Plastic Surgery, we make education an important part of our practice. Though the decision to undergo a brow lift is one to be made between you and Dr. Bose, knowing the process behind this procedure can help you better understand whether it could be right for you.
During a brow lift, the sagging extra skin that hangs along the forehead is removed. Dr. Bose then repositions the facial muscles, putting the eyebrows in a more favorable position. This can help reduce hooding over the eyes, eliminate creases, and provide a more youthful appearance.
What To Expect
A brow lift is a surgical procedure performed in a hospital under anesthesia. An incision is made either along the hairline (endoscopic incision) or across the scalp (coronal incision). The endoscopic incision is smaller, less noticeable, and typically preferred in most cases. Excess skin will then be removed, and the muscles repositioned. Finally, the incision will be sutured shut, revealing a smoother forehead and a more rejuvenated appearance.
You will awaken with bandages loosely wrapped around your forehead. There may also be a small tube used to drain excess fluid from the surgical site. It is normal to experience some bruising, swelling and discomfort, thought this is typically well-managed via over-the-counter pain relievers or those prescribed by Dr. Bose. Most patients will need to rest approximately 10 days before returning to work after surgery. During this time, the incision will begin to heal. You will also be schedule to return to our office for a follow-up appointment sometime after your surgery.
Your incision will continue to fade over time, and the swelling will gradually go down over the course of several weeks. Keep in mind that you may not fully recover for several months after your procedure, though your results may continue to improve day by day.
