Blepharoplasty Tampa, FL

, Blepharoplasty Tampa, FL Your eyes are important; they not only help you see, but they are also a tool you use to communicate with those around you. When your eyes are surrounded by excess fat and sagging skin, it can take add years to your face and make you appear tired when you are not. This condition only tends to worsen with age, as the delicate skin of the upper and lower lids begins to lose its elasticity over time.

If you are bothered by sagging, droopy eyelids or lower lids, there is hope for rejuvenation. An eye lift (blepharoplasty) can remove excess skin and fat around the eyes, revealing the beautiful eyes that have been hiding beneath.

Here at Bose Plastic Surgery, many of our eye lift patients have common complaints and frustrations, some of which you may have too. Examples include:

  • Undereye bags that do not respond to creams and serums
  • Lines and wrinkles that surround the eyes or cover the lids
  • Hooding that makes the eyes appear more narrow than they are
  • Chronic puffiness that suggests fatigue or lack of sleep

Is Blepharoplasty Right For You?

Before you decide to undergo eyelid surgery, ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are my goals for treatment?
  • Why do I want this surgery?
  • Am I healthy enough to undergo a surgical procedure?

The answers to these questions are important in determining your readiness for an eye lift. Though the goal is to improve the appearance of your eyes, it is important that your expectations are realistic for your outcome and that you are in good physical health to undergo surgery. Certain risks and conditions, such as high blood pressure and smoking, may affect your eligibility for treatment.

You will need to meet with Dr. Bose in person for a pre-surgery consultation, during which time he will review your medical history, talk with you about the procedure, and determine whether you are a candidate for treatment. This is the time to ask any questions you may have about blepharoplasty and find out whether you might also be a candidate for other similar procedures, such as a brow lift.

What To Expect

Blepharoplasty is a relatively quick procedure that usually takes between one and two hours to complete, depending on how much cosmetic work you are having. You will undergo surgery in an outpatient facility with the help of anesthesia or IV sedation. Once you awaken, you may have some visual blurring due to the use of an eye lubricant, but this will subside.

In most cases, patients can return home the same day as surgery. It is normal to experience bruising, soreness, and swelling that may continue for up to one or two weeks. You may feel comfortable enough to run short errands within 7 to 10 days, and you should be ready to return to work within a couple of weeks. Of course, you can contact Dr. Bose or the team here at Bose Plastic Surgery should you have any questions about your recovery. Always follow Dr. Bose’s instructions following your procedure to ensure an optimal healing and outcome.

Your eyes will continue to heal and your results improve long after the visible swelling and soreness have subsided. Your eyes should appear more alert and rejuvenated after your procedure. Keep in mind that while you can expect your results to last many years, your eyes will still continue to age. You can maintain your results and keep your eyes looking as youthful as possible by adopting healthy lifestyle habits and taking care of your skin.
